The native people of the Arctic region are called the Inuit and the Aleut. Near the Arctic circle, is Greenland, Canada, and present-day Alaska. The Arctic climate is harsh, cold, dry, and has a lot of dangerous animals. The Native Alaskans created homes that sheltered them from the cold, made from sod, stone, and whale bone. Traditional homes that were for the native who stayed in one place were built partly underground and heated by a lamp lit by oil from sea mammals. Other's were nomads and their homes weren't as permanent since they moved with the seasons, these are called Igloos. They hunted, whales, sea otters, seals, walruses and such. These animals also gave them protection from the cold. They used animal furs to keep warm, and to create weapons and homes. These are their natural resources. Caribou espescially since it's coat is light-weight and waterproof.
