No one wants a C and everyone wants an A. An A still means 100%. No amount of staff PD or training is going to change this thinking of our parents and students. ~I'd be more comfortable (and confident) with using SBG if there was more buy in from the community.

By using an average letter grade in PS, it reinforces the thinking that A is 100%. Are we doing more harm than good in the community we serve?

I think their needs to be 1.. 1.5. 2.5...3.0 3.5 and 4.0. 
In a students mind a 3 is good but a 2 is terrible. 

Or We could have language like proficient and semi proficient... something more than just 1...2...3..4....
Even assigned letter grades without percentages...a bi-product of SBG. 
E, P+, P, P-,P, G+,G,G-, BN+,BN, Y( Yet to Meet)


Side Note and Example
In English class students are receiving 3's and they are not proficient... Receiving a 2 is a death sentence to them but they are not proficient.
