There is a strong connection between well-being and engagement (Robinson, 2013). Companies must engage their employees, at the individual and organizational level, in certain strategies that include interventions such as health related programs, policies, health benefits, and environmental support. The strongest workplace programs are ones that build a culture of health by a combination of individual health needs and the company’s overall goals and are backed by senior leadership (Scovill, n.d.). This will help employees achieve physical, mental, and emotional well-being by promoting healthy behaviors such as diet, physical activity, stress management, and tobacco cessation (Workplace health program, n.d.). These days, worksite wellness centers offer a continuum of care and can be seamlessly integrated with offsite resources, which makes it easier for employees to participate and optimize their well-being, while also helps the company better manage its healthcare costs and maintain productivity (Khoury, n.d.).

In 2015, more than 50% of US employees reported that they weren’t engaged in their work (Increasing employee engagement, 2013), which identifies that there are some fundamental problems that need to be addressed. To help increase employee engagement, we need to understand the issue at the root. What are the financial costs for employee disengagement? What are the causes of employee disengagement? What employees are happiest? Does the company encourage/mandate employee engagement? Is there any social responsibility in the organization’s employee engagement? How can we incorporate employee engagement? With the business competition growing, its important for organization leaders to provide a workplace that is appealing to their employees, who will provide them with a high performing workforce. This will ensure increased productivity, innovation, retention, and cost reduction for the organization (The impact of employee, 2016).
