         <description><![CDATA[<div>This Stage 3 Science lesson will focus on the Material World content, specifically “The States of Matter”. Throughout this lesson, ICT (Information Communication Technology) will be incorporated through the use of an interactive quiz on Kahoot!, gathering observations and evidence on Ipads, and then collating data and creating a collaborative video report through the video-editing app Magisto. This lesson is extremely valuable, as it not only explicitly teaches a comprehensive understanding of the states of matter through learning, but also through active participation in an engaging experiment. Furthermore, students are more engaged with this topic through the use of ICT in investigating, creating and communicating. This lesson is one out of a unit of work, which will see students present a video portfolio of their weekly-learned topics as the end of unit assessment.</div><div> </div><div>This lesson has integrated the use of ICT in an authentic manner that will enable students to develop skills in technology that will benefit them further in Science, cross-curricularly and life beyond the classroom. In addition to this, students will develop literacy skills with learned terminology, communication of the activities and processes, and comprehension of their findings.</div><div> </div><div>Finally, students are given an opportunity to demonstrate their ability to work collaboratively as a team to reach a common goal. Each of them will need to work together utilising each others strengths, setting responsibilities for one another, using effective communication and completing the set task together. Through this lesson construction and approach, students will develop a strong interest and positive, informed values and attitudes towards science and technology (NSW Syllabus, 2012).</div>]]></description>

         <title>ICT Activity: MAGISTO</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The ICT that has been integrated into this lesson plan is Magisto, a video editing application. Students will be asked to create a video report of the scientific experiment conducted in the class on the states of matter and the effect of temperature on different materials. This component links to the Australian Curriculum ICT General Capabilities: <br>Creating with ICT: independently or collaboratively create and modify digital solutions, creative outputs or data representation/transformation for<br>particular audiences and purposes. <br>Communicating with ICT: select and use appropriate ICT tools safely to share and exchange information and to safely collaborate with others.  <br>(ACARA, 2012)</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Video Report assessment task in this lesson will require the use of a marking rubric in order to conduct accurate observations and ensure specified outcomes. The teacher will conduct observation of the student's ability to work as a team, their understanding of the content and the task, their communication and the quality of their visual presentation. This assessment task is a formative assessment task.</div>]]></description>

Students can log in on their individual Ipads and engage in a quiz focussing on revising their prior knowledge of states of matter; liquids and solids. </div>]]></description>
