I want to become an educator to set an example for my students, if you push yourself you can do anything. As a child I was very shy, never spoke up in class. Funny enough that was always the critiques my teachers would say during parent teacher interviews "she's great just to quite", I also did struggle a lot with certain subjects and endured some bullying from my own teachers during this time. I overcame my shyness as I grew up, im still quite but it when it comes to presenting I don't shutdown the way I used to. Also in the way in which I teach I strive to make sure none my students feel discouraged within my classroom, I want everyone to feel comfortable and succeed! This is why I want to become an educator.

I want to become a teacher because I have had the privilege of having some great teachers over the course of my life who have made me appreciate the work that they do, both for their students curricular success, but also mental well being. In some ways, it is my way of wanting to do the same thing and give back to what I was able to get out of schooling growing up. Furthermore, I am very passionate about my teachables, thus that has played a part in my choosing to become a teacher as well :)

In a placement, during lunchtime, a teacher asked the TCs what their teachables were. He waxed eloquent over the other TCs and their subjects - until he got to me. When I told him I was in Tech-Manufacturing, he shut down, shut up and changed the subject.

This is why I'm here.

This is the eye of ignorance, classism and academic elitism I'm here to stick my thumb into - and I'm enjoying every minute of it while I train a whole new generation of Techs to fill the holes academic narrow mindedness and short sightedness have left us with over the last 60 years. - Anthony

I am very excited to become an educator as I strive to be a positive role model for the next generation. I strongly believe that kindness is crucial in everyday life. I hope to share the importance of this with my future students, shaping them into caring, polite human beings! A simple "hello", "how are you" or a smile can help turn someone's day around. You truly never know what kind of day someone is having, so it is best to be kind.

I want to be a teacher because I want to inspire children to discover their passions and help nurture a love for learning. Some of the best teachers I've had have been extremely passionate about the subjects they were teaching. I found this passion to be contagious as it encouraged me to delve deeper into my learning and seek out this same passion. What is more, I want all my students to feel like they belong. I remember often feeling less than or incompetent because of my weaknesses. As a teacher I want to create an environment within the classroom that shows all students that they are valuable members of the community.

I want to be a teacher because I believe it to be one of the most rewarding, valuable, and influential vocations. It wasn't until early adulthood that I realized it was for me, but when I did everything clicked. Teacher's have the privilege of committing themselves to learning, not only for their students but themselves as well. If I can even be a fraction of the teacher some of mine were to me, I believe I can live the rest of my life happy.

As a student, I often faced hardships in my academic life and had many people question my ability to complete my education. I remember very vividly my math teacher pointing me out when I answered a question he though was wrong. He told me " thats the wrong answer and I can tell just by looking at you that you're going to struggle". Turns out, he was wrong and I remembered in that moment, I would never want a child to feel insecure about their ability to succeed in school, especially when they are trying. I want to encourage students, learn from them and guide them to reach their personal goals.
