The castle is presented to have double doors at center and two doors to both sides.  There are three steps that lead down to the chorus. Antigone and Ismene take stage.

Antigone informed Ismene that King Creon had let Eteocles, Antigone's and Ismene's brother, be buried, but had declared Polyneices, also their brother, to remain unburied. Antigone tries to convince Ismene to help bury Polyneices with her, even though there is a death penalty if they are caught in the act. Ismene refuses to help because she does not want to break the law and she believes that women can not go up against men. Antigone still wishes to fulfill the act of burying Polyneices, even if she does it alone. (Antigone and Ismene enter castle, Chorus take stage) Chorus sing about Polyneices and Eteocles fighting and killing each other.

Creon takes stage to deliver the news that their ship had arrived safe to the harbor. Creon is talking to the Chorus explaining how he appreciates them being loyal to their King and that he hopes they stay loyal while he is King. He also delivers the news that he wants Eteocles to be buried and for Polyneices to stay unburied.

A sentry, a guard, enters telling Creon that somebody took Polyneices' body and is going to bury it. Creon accuses the sentry of being bribed. Creon demands that the sentry brings the person, who took Polyneices' body, to him.

Chorus start singing the "Ode 1." They sing about man's strength and what him good.

Choragus recognizes Antigone asking why was she brought to to the King.

Creon doesn't believe that Antigone was the one that really tried burying Polyneices at first, but the Sentry says that he say it with his own eyes. The sentry explains the series of events. Creon, who still doesn't seem to fully believe what has happened, questions Antigone. Antigone doesn't deny the act and admits with pride. She argued that Polyneices and Eteocles should both be buried because they were brothers and not enemies. Creon shames Antigone and exclaims that Antigone must be punished with her sister, Ismene. Creon orders for Ismene. Ismene tries taking some of the blame, but Antigone won't allow it and says that Ismene wouldn't even help her. Ismene revealed that Antigone is married to Creon's son, Haemon.

Chorus sings "Ode 2." They sing about the tragedy of Oedipus' children and how none of them can be free of tragedy. They call upon Zeus asking what man tries to "overpower" him.

Setting:
This is all taking place inside the castle, the same as scene 1. The only thing that has really changed about the scene is the mood. Haemon says that he respects his father because Creon has he has guided him his whole life. Creon says that a son must follow his father and hate his father's enemies. Creon says that Haemon's and Antigone's marriage would've failed because Haemon would've gotten tired of Antigone. He also says that it doesn't matter if Antigone pleads that her actions were because she cared about her family because a city must be obedient to their leader.

Haemon tells his father that he disagrees. He says that what Antigone is morally correct because she cared for her brother. He tries to tell his father that Antigone isn't a bad women and he calls his father a stubborn man. He tries to tell his father that not everything he says and does is correct.

Creon is dumbfounded that his son could talk to him in such a manner. He ends up calling for Ismene to be set free and that Antigone be put in a stone "tomb."

Chorus begins to sing "Ode 3." They sing about how powerful love is and what it can make people do.

Setting:
It is still in the castle, same as scene 1 and 2. The difference is the mood. Interactions between the Chorus and Antigone occur. Antigone says that it is her time to say goodbye. The Chorus laughs at her, while she tells them to wait to laugh after she gone, and says that her father would be disappointed to have a daughter like her.

Creon orders the guards to take her to the "tomb." Antigone says she will get to see all of her family that has died and she states that she has not committed a sin for what she has done. Antigone tells Creon that he is leading a King's daughter to her death and that he will no forget his action of doing so and her suffering.

Chorus sings "Ode 4." They grieve for Antigone while singing and sing about fate and the roles the gods have.

Teiresia is a prophet who is blind, but is "spiritually sighted." He introduces the scene by telling Creon that he must listen to the prophet of the gods. Creon said that he has been. But, Teiresias says that Creon is on "the edge of fate" because of Eteocles and Polyneices, who he refers to as birds, killing each other. Teiresias prophecies that the city will hate Creon, Haemon will die soon because Antigone is locked up, and the god's will release their wrath upon Thebes. This prophecy makes Creon realize what he has done and he questions if he should set aside his pride.

The chorus sing the "Paean." They sing to Dionysus, the god of wine and fertility, saying he must dance because the city is doomed.

He tells the Chronus that Haemon has died by committing suicide because of his father killing Antigone. The messenger then goes on to tell the Chorus about how he led Creon to Polyneices' body and helped burn it and they went to Antigone's "tomb." When they saw Haemon hugging Antigone, who had hug herself. Haemon spat on Creon's face and tried charging at him with his sword, but missed, so Haemon ended up killing himself. Eurydice, the queen and Creon's wife, left to go back inside the palace. The messenger exited the stage following her.

Creon enters stage holding Haemon's body. Messenger enters stage again to deliver news that Eurydice killed herself and blamed Creon for the deaths of her sons. Creon wished for the chorus to "lead" him away.
