I noticed this in the illustrations. Throughout the book, there are characters that represent so many different cultural backgrounds in the classroom setting. This is an obvious representation of diversity. However, there was also subtle evidence of diversity when, in the story, one character brings a unique, cultural lunch to school. The other student looks at her lunch with curiosity, which embarrasses her. But I think this was a cool illustration because diversity is inevitable. At my own school, we have many different backgrounds and experiences and sometimes that is shown by the clothes we wear or the food we eat. We don't necessarily talk about it out loud, but it does exist. It is inevitable because all of the students in our school have unique life experiences that they share explicitly and implicitly.

You can also see traditions passed on by family and it also shows a pattern of good things and bad things. There were also signs of conflict in between the perspectives and it shows how unique it is to have a tradition or family's different cultures or history. The photos however are very detailed with different meanings and different time and place on each page. Which is a representation of the diversity in this book being a result of varying experiences and perspectives. There were also many nice illustrations in this book.

I know this because in the text it implicitly talks about the underground railroad, and a march for freedom. In the text it did not say the march was for freedom, however it said Martin Luther King Jr. lead the march, and using my background knowledge I know he stood for freedom and equality. The march was held because black people and white people were not treated the same because of their skin, and because they where not equal there was a lot of conflict happening. That leads us back to the Diversity generalization, Diversity may lead to conflict. That is why I think the Diversity generalization that best fits this text is that Diversity may lead to conflict.
