Using locations, we can establish where we are in a film whilst creating a good transition between other scenes.

Colours can also be used as metaphors for feelings and moods.

We can also take advantage of sounds and music to create emotions and further establish the mood of the film.

Cinematography is a great way to control how viewers are seeing the film.

Focus can be used to tell the story, using a shallow depth of field to bring focus and importance to scene, object or subject. A wide depth of field can be used to tell the story and introduce.

When interviewing Nova. I will walk around their room with them while they talk to me about their upcoming punk projects and jackets that they have designed. This will make the viewers feel that they are in Nova's room which helps build a connection with the viewers and interviewees in the documentary

Clean Single - no other part of the character is in frame. This is best used to convey isolation

Dirty Single - when there is limited presence from another character in frame

The Two Shot - when two characters are visible in frame, both faces must be visible. This shot conveys the visual representation between two characters

Over The Shoulder Shot - this is the most effective way to cover a conversation. It is a hybrid between. single and two shot. This allows the audience feel included in the moment

POV - when you want the audience to experience the perspective of a character

Insert shot - going extremely tight on detail. Best combined with POV
