In the lab session, I learned how to use the light microscope and autopipette. I also learned how to use the electronic balance.

To use autopipette correctly, I should press the operating button to the first stop and dispense the liquid receiving vessel by gently pressing the operating button to the second stop. (be careful of slowly release the operating button.)

To use the electronic balance correctly, I should put the weighing paper on the electronic balance first. (Because the weighing paper also has weight) Then set zero and weight the required amount chemical.

To use the light microscope properly, I should first turn the revolving turret and the lowest power objective lens (eg. 4x).When I have a clear image of the sample with the lowest power objective, change to the next objective lenses.

Before the lesson I thought the resume is same as CV(Curriculum Vitae) but there are some of the different between them.

resume:focuses on work experience, skills, and achievements relevant to the specific job being applied for. It is concise and tailored to each position.

CV: commonly used for academic, education, scientific, or research positions, as well as for applications for grants, fellowships, or graduate school.

- To write a resume ,list your own work experience in reverse chronological order.

- List your duties, responsibilities, and/or accomplishments concisely in bullet points, each starting with an action verb.

- avoid using abbreviations.

-Keep the resume design clean and easy to read

- List Relevant Skills that are relevant to the job you’re applying for:

1)echnical skills (e.g., software proficiency)

2)Soft skills (e.g., communication, leadership)

In this workshop, I learned about the ion exchange reaction utilized in molecular cooking. When the sodium alginate, a water-soluble polysaccharide dissolves in water to form a viscous solution. Then, the Calcium lactate is also added and dissociates into calcium ions (Ca²⁺) and lactate ions in water. The calcium ions (Ca²⁺) react with the sodium alginate by replacing the sodium ions (Na⁺) in the alginate structure, creating calcium alginate, which is an insoluble gel. Then, form a firm and jelly-like membrane around the sodium alginate solution, creating a spherical shape.

Today, I learned how to do DNA extraction using household materials. First, I lysed the cell membrane and the nuclear membrane with detergent. Then, I isolated the DNA with salt. Because DNA is negatively charged, the Na⁺ ions in the salt can neutralize the negative charge and help separate the DNA.

Finally, I precipitated the DNA with ethanol. These are the materials that I can find at home.

7/4 Rocket Launcher

In this lesson, I learned how to make the rocket launcher run with three rotors. The principle of the rocket launcher is that when the rotors are turning together, they generate a force to push the rocket out. With greater power, the rotors can turn faster, pushing the rocket farther away.

The most important part in making the rocket launcher, I think, is the distance of the rotors. I need to ensure that the rotors can touch the rocket but do not hold it too tightly.

In this lesson, I made the plane launcher. I use different sizes of hard cardboard to assemble the plane launcher. There are two motors to help the plane fly a long way. Because the power of the Battery is fixed, it means every time of the speed of the motors is always the same. we can try to change the shape of the plane (delta wings, rectangular wings) or the angle of the plane to fly out.
