         <description><![CDATA[<div>North Korea invaded South Korea in 1950. North Korea was allied with the communist countries, China and the USSR, while South Korea was supported by the United Nations and the United States. The cold war suddenly turned into a hot war after Stalin announced his plans to take over all of South Korea, and the USSR agreed to provide North Korea with the weapons they needed to fight with.</div>]]></description>

(June 27 1950) U.S president orders support for South Korea and calls for a United Nations intervention.<br>3. (Sept. 15 1950) U.S troops invade at Inchon. - The invasion took place at a risky location, but landed. North Korea was unprepared.<br>4. (Nov. 4 1950) Chinese divisions enter fighting.<br>5. (March 1953) Formal division of Korea. - The formal peace treaty was never signed. Over 1 million Koreans and 54,000 Americans were killed in the conflict.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
