When he returned, his governor(Marcia) made him a senior apprentice-which guarunteed him the governors' spot sooner. There seems to be a suspicious girl named Syrah, that is trying to kill Septimus so she can leave the island on his ship. Septimus's ship needs repairs and Syrah is only willing to fix them if he does what she asks before he leaves.
