They became know as the "Friendship Nine" and they had a chose to go to prison or pay a $100 fine. They chose prison.  The Supreme Court received a lot of cases of protesters who have been charged with trespass or had to pay a fine. Bell v. Maryland was a case made to reject students claims. P: I see that the black man is acting civilized and wanting to keep the peace.The white man is acting non civilized and rude to towards the black man.

I:Because I see this it makes me think that the African Americans did not want to give into the whites. They wanted to show the world that they are the normal ones and don't need to use violence. 

C: Because of all this it makes me think that all the black people wanted to be treated fair so they did not want to react to the abuse so they went with a peaceful protest.

Franklin McCain- He was born January 3, 1941. He had 3 children and was known for staging the sit-in at Greensboro. He died January 9, 2014.


David Richmond- He was born April 20, 1941. He died December 7, 1990. He had 3 children. His cause of death was lung cancer.

Ezell Blair Jr- He was born on October 18, 1941. He had 3 children and was known for staging the Greensboro 4 sit ins.

Feb 28,1960- Sit-in movement spread to more than 30 cities store.
April 1, 1960- Sit-ins resume at Woolworth and Kress store. Next day officially close lunch counters.
July 26, 1960- F.W.
