Raul Elizarraras

Victor Neumann Lara, was a Mexican born Mathematician. Victor was a very big figure in Mexican mathematics, and he helped inspire many of the younger generation in Mexico. Victor introduced the concept of the dichromatic number of a directed graph in 1982. In his time as a mathematician, he traveled all over the world to teach hundreds of courses to the younger generation. Victor was also a pioneer in the field of graph theory in Mexico. Before he ended up passing away in 2004, he had the chance to have a kid in 1962, named Max Neumann-Coto, who is currently 62 years old and also followed in his father's footsteps and became a mathematician.

Alejandro Adem. I chose this mathematician because he was appointed president of the Natural Science & Engineering research council. Two ways I connect with him is that we both are into science and engineering, and another way is how we both are Mexican, so we share the same nationality. One major contribution Alejandro Adem contributed to is Algebraic Topology. Another contribution Alejandro Adem did was Group Cohomology. Alejandro Adem is the CEO of Mitacs which is a real-time manufacturing analytics solution.

What Pedro is mostly known for is the The Spanish-French Geodesic Mission. The Geodesic Mission was an 18th century journey to what is now Ecuador carried out for the purpose of performing an arc measurement, measuring the length of a degree of latitude near the Equator, by which the Earth's radius can be inferred.

Later on In Spain, in 1746, he was received by Philip V, who bestowed upon him the title of "Gentleman of the Royal Camera".

than later he proclaimed him Governor of Atacames, with a state benefit pension to last for two generations.

He was involved in physics and I'm interested in physics, so the connection we share is our interest in physics. Isaac Newton had a major contribution in math.

David Rodriguez

I learned about the mathematician Jaime Escalante. He is part of the Hispanic culture, just like me. I chose him because we are both Hispanic men. He helped students in poor communities do really well in math, especially in AP Calculus. His students got very high scores on big math tests, and that surprised a lot of people. He became famous for the way he taught and helped his students succeed. There was even a movie made about his life called Stand and Deliver. I think he is really inspiring because he showed that anyone can do well in math if they work hard.

The mathematician I chose is Alberto Pedro Calderon, born September 14, 1920, Mendoza, Argentina and died April 16, 1998 (age 77), Chicago, IL. He represents Hispanics and is known for singular integral operators. What originally drew me in was because his first name is Alberto and it sounds similar to Roberto which is my brother's name. A major contribution to mathematics was with applications to partial differential equations. An interesting fact about him was that he went to The University Of Chicago, and an quote from him that I thought was pretty inspirational he said "awoke in me an eagerness to solve more and similar problems"

Garavito was one of the oldest and most famous mathematicians in his nation during the time he was still alive. A couple of ways that people were able to recognize garavito was by his engineering ideas for coming up with a certain bridge design that is still used to this day. But what he was mostly known for was his mathematics and astronomy of keeping track of the moons movement while having his face featured on his nationality's currency.

She works as the education coordinator at the Pacific institute for mathematical science. One major contribution to mathematics that Alverez has is her out reach programs and initiatives for underrepresented groups, including indigenous students, she is also known for developing programs and summer mathematics camps to help improve mathematical education. Another interesting fact about her is her famous summer camps to help improve education.
