For people, who are forced to have either one or both the legs amputated due to accidents or any other medical reasons, prosthetic legs come as a blessing in disguise for them. Prosthetic legs are artificial limbs, fitted on a person, to act as an alternative for original legs. Fitting of prosthetic leg can be done either for one or both the legs depending on individual to individual. However, managing of prosthetic leg is not so easy a task, for most of the individuals. There are varieties of factors which contribute towards making the task of using prosthetic legs easier. For light weighted people, adapting to prosthetic legs is much easier as compared to heavy weight persons. Also, factors like bone structure, stamina and motivation of the wearer, play an instrumental role when it comes to managing prosthetic legs. Some people prefer using electrical wheelchair in India.

While, no one wants to opt for wearing prosthetic legs post amputation due to reasons of inferiority complex and discomfort, there are several benefits attached to usage of artificial limbs. Some of the major ones include:

Energy

As compared to using crutches while walking, prosthetic legs are far better option, in terms of providing energy levels to the users. According to studies made by institutions of artificial limbs, prosthetic legs, if fitted properly, provide more energy levels to users while walking, which are otherwise not seen while using crutches. Managing prosthetic legs is more comfortable and convenient than that of managing crutches.

Mobility

In most of the amputation cases, people prefer using wheelchair rather than prosthetic legs, for their future mobility. However, while wheelchair allows comfort levels to the patients, it comes with limited mobility. On the other hand, with prosthetic legs, patients find an enhanced mobility scope, allowing them to move around freely, even when it comes to undertaking tedious task like climbing and getting down the stairs. There are certain areas which are possible to access only with prosthetic legs and not wheelchairs. Thus, it can be easily said that, people using prosthetic legs experience greater sense of independence as compared to that of those sitting on a wheelchair.

Psychological

As, prosthetic legs allow people better ability to blend around with the crowd, it brings about a sense of overall psychological well being within them. There is a less sense of frustration and bitterness levels in people using prosthetic legs as compared to those not wearing them. Initial discomfort aside, people start feeling comfortable no sooner they adapt to their prosthetic legs and master the art of wearing them.

For More Info:- artificial limbs
