         <description><![CDATA[<p>Manifest destiny fate of the United States was to expand “from sea to shining sea”. It stretched from coast to coast.</p><p>While many Americans recognized the commercial benefit for westward movement.</p><p><br/></p><p>In my opinion it reflects both ambition and the darker aspects of American expansion. On one hand, it captured the spirit of American progress and the belief in the country's right to expand across the continent. On the other hand, it justified the violent displacement of Native Americans, the destruction of their cultures, and the expansion of slavery.</p><p><br/></p><p>The War of Manifest Destiny, was fueled by the belief that the US was meant to expand the westward. It led to significant US land gains but deepening sectional divides.</p>]]></description>
