There's a lot of literature on the subject.

It bothers me because so much of the knowledge, attitude and skill for contemporary professional practice (I teach nurses) is constructed and there's not much scope for people to be wallflowers in ward-rounds, multi-professional team meetings, case conferences and all the other arenas where nurses may have to form an opinion, share it and maybe even defend it (heavens forbid!!!).
