STUDENT RESPONSE: In the image labelled as "Vincent" created by Tim burton, shadow is used to express the idea of how fear can deeply be lead by our imaginations. The exaggerated monterous figure in the backround further intensifies the sense of danger even though it's figure itself appears harmless. This symbolises how fear can be overwhelming and compelling, overshadowing the harsh reality. The contrast between the small figure and large shadow communicates how minor concerns can become enomous if left ignored. Overall the use of shadow in this image emphasises how fears can impact our perspective of life and make smaller problems horrifiyingly large.
