From this photo series, I hope that you can relate to it, appreciate & cherish these forgotten iconic buildings & places, and encourage those who may feel this way to get out and enjoy life because YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!

3. Payphones were a common sight until the early 2000s. these payphones are now forgotten and abandoned as smartphones slowly evolved and allowed people to seamlessly call and connect with family and friends.

4. Supermarket trolley abandonment has been a problem that most people don’t see and realise and has caused a lot of issues and money for supermarket chains. Hopefully, people can be more responsible and return them after shopping.

5. The dark & empty corridor represents the emptiness and loneliness when someone feels abandoned, forgotten, isolated. Some people fear that this feeling will be like a never ending corridor, trapped in their own negative mindset forever.

6. An elderly man is riding his bicycle with a wagon attached at the back. In the wagon, there are some items like a chair & an IKEA bag. He might be homeless, or someone who works at night. He might feel isolated from society, forgotten by family members, lonely… Where do you think he is going…?

7. Trishaws are a thing from the past and some are trying to keep the culture alive by offering trishaw rides to tourists. However, it is slowly dying off and being forgotten by many locals in Singapore. This trishaw uncle might be resting after a long day and thinking about how he is going to sustain a living with the trishaw. 

8. It is closer than you think. You may not see it, but if you look closer or from a different perspective, you might be able to catch it. In this photo, there is an elderly man on his mobility device at the tunnel. It looked like he was alone as he was just sitting there for a very long time and no one attended to him. It’s a sad reality some of the elderly are being left to provide for themselves.

9. When one isolates themselves, they will be in their own world and let their minds run. There are a few reasons one might isolate themselves - introverts, people who might be depressed/anxious, etc… They are usually hidden, invisible to us when we don’t see the signs, and that is when we have to look again 

10. People don’t usually pay attention to back alleys because of the perceptions/stereotypes that people have, and they become like an abandoned, isolated, eerie place that people tend to avoid at night. However, back alleys are a good place for you if you want to spend time by yourself/with friends because it is quiet, peaceful, hidden and beautiful, especially at night.

11. People who feel abandoned, forgotten, isolated wish that they can be on the bright side of the river. The river represents their challenges in their lives that are preventing them from being happy. We need to help these people cross the river so that they can enjoy this life that they have and feel loved by their family and friends.

12. As I was taking these photos, I can see the 3 things that I have highlighted - Abandoned, Forgotten, Isolated - it is very real in this world and I can relate to some of these photos that I have taken and interpreted, the fear and the struggle that people go through. I sincerely hope that we can help in whatever way that we can.
