         <title>Swiss Universities</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are 12 Swiss Universities recognized as Swiss higher level of educational institutions. They tend to offer degrees in specialised learning. Although there are private educational institutions that offer a more generalized course of study. Swiss Universities have stringent guidelines for their IB applicants. <strong><em>Swiss Application Requirements</em></strong><em>:</em></div><ul><li>Most of the Universities require 32 points (total of 42 points) Two of them require 38 points.          <description><![CDATA[<div>There are 2618 accredited US Colleges and Universities. A majority of these programs are 4 year undergraduate liberal arts degree programs (Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science). <br><strong><em>US Application Requirements:</em></strong></div><ul><li>Range from strictly numerical entry&nbsp; requirements (grades &amp; standardized test scores) to holistic applications (Each University/College sets own criteria and deadlines)</li><li>Many schools allow students to submit one form called the Common Application/University Application&nbsp;</li><li>Selective schools (Ivy League or Top Colleges) usually rank most important academic performance (G9-G12) &amp; standardized test scores&nbsp;</li><li>Next competitive schools often require additional student essays, predicted grades, proof of leadership skills, extra curricular activities, talents and teacher &amp; counselor recommendations</li></ul><div>For an online overview of the US application requirements please visit the following website (link below).          <description><![CDATA[<div>There are a plethora of highly regarded world-wide Canadian Universities and Programs. The academic system is closer to the liberal arts than the course based system. Students may apply to general programs or faculties within the university. <br><strong><em>Canadian Application Requirements:</em></strong></div><ul><li>It is academic based</li><li>Transcripts are evaluated (semester &amp;  predicted grades)</li><li>Most Universities weight the Grade 10-12 grades</li><li>For students who complete the IB Diploma (no essays, teacher/counselor recommendations or standardized tests required)</li><li>For students who complete DP courses standardized tests (SAT/ACT) may be required</li><li>Points required for an applicant's entry is stated on each Universities' website</li><li>Students must attend to intended faculties course requirements and take pre-requisite DP courses </li></ul><div>Visit the Canadian Information Center for International Credentials in order to help search Universities and Programs that may fit your future  course of study.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the US sometimes these terms are interchangeable. However, in some schools Universities have more students and facilities and tend to focus their attention more on research and graduate programs rather then excellent teaching of undergraduates. In Canada there is a clear difference between the two schools. Universities offer all degree programs ranging from the undergraduate to graduate degrees. However, Canadian colleges only focus on technical training and applied arts.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The UK University system is the perfect one if YOU KNOW which subject you would like to study! It is mostly subject based (except for Scotland). You apply for a specific course of study and concentrate only on this subject to completion of your 3 year degree title Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science.&nbsp;That being said, there are an increasing number of broad liberal arts degrees and natural science degrees. Stay tuned on this newsletter for a link to these broader degree options coming in September. <br><strong><em>UK Application Requirements:</em></strong></div><ul><li>Usually emphasize year 11 Grades and Grade 12 predicted grades (although take into account G10)</li><li>Important to take pre-requisite DP course of study that prepares you for your intended subject course of study in university</li><li>Holistic evaluation system including grades, a teacher/tutor reference, a student written personal statement that highlights reason for your studies and how you are a suitable and a competitive candidate</li></ul><div>*Scotland, the birthplace of the liberal arts degree typically offers 4 year degree programs and is more general course of study in the first couple of years and specializes in a subject that you apply for in the last years of study.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>Dutch Universities</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are numerous English courses offered in Dutch Universities and compared to many countries the price is right, meaning tuition costs can be low! There are 3 levels of Universities (Applied Sciences, Research Universities and the University Colleges of the Research Universities).<br><strong><em>Dutch Application Requirements:</em></strong></div><ul><li>Students with an IB certificate and Diploma are usually accepted into the Unis of Applied Sciences</li><li>Research Unis require students to achieve at least 30 points and higher on their IB results</li><li>University Colleges of the Research Universities require a profile of about 35 points</li><li>They do have general subject areas prospective students need to study (check our College &amp; Universities Handbook)</li></ul><div>Please explore this link to help you start a preliminary investigation into the Dutch University System</div>]]></description>
