A society of people we living in a society. About 30 percent of these people had green eyes and 50 percent had brown eyes and 20 percent had blue eyes. Suddenly a volcanic eruption occurs and wipes out all but 9 green eyed people and 2 brown eyed people. The blue eyed people got wiped out. Now the new population of people we mostly consist of green eyed people. 

Founders Effect


Before the natural disaster some of those people from that same society traveled over to new land. Most of these new travelers consisted of blue eyed people. If ten people immigrate to a new country in the middle of nowhere, they will probably have different phenotypes. Let's say the majority of people have blond hair. Two people have red hair- One boy and one girl. The girl falls in love with another girl, and they don't have children. The boy has three children- two of whom have red hair because he is heterozygous for red hair. The rest of the blond people have children together (except for the wife of the red haired boy and the wife of the red haired girl). Their genotypes are bb, since blond hair is completely recessive. Over time, most of the people on the island have blond hair, but a few still have red hair. 
Bottlenecking: A giant wind-wrapped tornado comes and knocks out 75% of the population. Out of the remaining 25%, about 10% of them have red hair. The island continues to repopulate, and of course, more people than before have blond hair.
