A Hemorrhagic is a specific stroke. It is caused by a week/damaged blood vessel. The stroke occurs when a blood vessel in your brain ruptures. The medical term for bleeding inside the body is called a hemorrhage. This bleeding causes the brain to not receive the proper blood and oxygen levels it needs to survive. Resulting in the brain not working properly. Some warning signs of a hemorrhagic stroke include loss in balance, sudden vision loss, and/or slurred speech.

This is caused by reduce blood flow from fatty deposits being built up in the blood flow, and even blood clots. Ultimately, fatty deposits, blood clots, and other debris getting logged in the blood vessels to the brain results in a Ischemic Stroke. When a blood vessel in the brain leaks or ruptures it results in a Hemorrhagic stroke. Some causes for this is high blood pressure, bulges at weak spots in the blood vessel walls, and head trauma.

This is a state in which the individual is fully conscious and mentally alert but unable to speak or move due to almost paralysis, except for vertical eye movements and blinking. Despite being unable to move or speak, the person can hear, understand, think, and reason. Communication is typically achieved through controlled eye movements. Other effects of a brain stem stroke could be: breathing and heart function problems,

trouble with body temperature control, balance and coordination problems, weakness or paralysis, trouble chewing, swallowing, and speaking, and vision changes.

Studies show that 64% of stroke survivors suffer from speech and language problems after. There are 3 different common disorders, Aphasia, Dysarthria, and Apraxia of speech.

Aphasia is often caused by a stroke in the left hemisphere of the brain. Two main language areas of the brain reside here, Broca's area, and Wernicke's area. When these are effected, it causes trouble speaking, retrieving words, repeating words, and understanding language.

Unlike aphasia, dysarthria is considered a motor speech disorder. Dysarthria occurs when brain or nerve damage results in weakness of the muscles used to speak. Symptoms may include, speaking in way that is incomprehensible, speaking too loudly or quietly, or at a fast or slow pace, speech may sound nasally, difficulty moving the lips, jaw, and/or tongue. Apraxia is when the signals sent to the brain to use certain muscles to speak are disrupted, therefore one cannot properly move the muscles, such as the lips and tongue. Symptoms of Apraxia include, difficulty producing or repeating sounds, speech errors, speaking slowly or not at all.

Speech Therapy ranges from about $100 to $250 in The U.S and it includes services such as a personalized treatment plan, Family Training, Therapy Sessions, etc. There are many types of insurance that would allow one to pursue treatment and some of these include Health Insurance Coverage, Medicare, Medicade, School-based services, and so much more. The odds of treatment are very likely through insurance as so many companies offer it no matter what age group you are in. However if one can not pursue treatment or does not want to pursue treatment then some long term consequences that will follow are problems such as memory, swallowing, Speech, and more.

After a stroke, the patient may have to take medication as a long term treatment. Medications such as blood thinners are most commonly necessary such as antiplatelet drugs and anticoagulants. Antiplatelet drugs help prevent platelets from sticking together. A common brand of antiplatelts is Plavix, which is $640 per 30, 75 mg tablets before insurance, and $4 per 30, 75 mg tablets after insurance coverage. Anticoagulants are blood thinners that prevent new blood clots from forming and keep existing blood clots from getting larger. A common brand of anticoagulants is Eliquis, which is $815 per 60, 5 mg tablets before insurance and $488 per 60, 5 mg tablets after insurance.

It is highly likely that blood thinners would be covered by insurance as most commercial and government programs cover blood thinners. If a patient does not choose to take blood thinners, they may be at risk for a second stroke.

They loose the strong ability due muscle weakness, loss of sensation, concentration problems, etc. The physical therapist will create a plan to reach their desired goal. The timeline of being treated depends on how chronic the injury is and how motivated the patient is to recover.

In order to avoid another stroke, the patient has to cut out smoking (if applicable). Smoking causes an increase in blood pressure, therefore increasing the risk of strokes. As well as, the harmful chemicals in tobacco are absorbed into the bloodstream, which then damage the blood vessel walls. The damage of these walls leads to narrowing and hardening of arteries, therefore risking blood clots that lead to strokes. It will be hard for the patient to quit as smoking is addicting, however there are professionals they can talk to. The first professional they may need to see is their primary doctor, who will be the one to tell them to quit. After, they may be recommended to join support groups such as Quitline, etc, to help them along their journey to being smoke-free.

After a stroke, video games can be beneficial towards recovery. It may be included in their treatment recovery plan by their physical therapist and/or occupational therapist. The patient may have cognitive and/or motor skill issues - video games may help them with neuro plasticity, which helps recover those lost abilities. Cognitively, video games promote communication between the brain's hemispheres. Physically, it helps muscle coordination by improving motor skills, rebuilding strength, and increase coordination in affected limbs. Some video games are a VR headset that requires the patient to move their whole body. Video games stimulate the release of dopamine, which can make the recovery process fun and keep the patient motivated. However, there is a risk of becoming addicted and the patient may not want to try any other sort of recovery exercises, which is a negative aspect of this technology.
