However, in thinking about the assignment, I have realized that there is more math in English than I previously thought. Math can be used to count syllables in words and lines in poetry. Math is seen in English class when students have to prove why and how they know something (similar to a proof). When teaching poetry, I can teach about the different types of poems and how many syllables need to be included in each line. It also impacts rhyme scheme when words have vastly different syllable counts.
2. I can create a code that students need to decipher using symbols as part of a review game. I can use math skills that are being taught in my students' math class during an escape room activity. I can relate the problems to the characters or themes in the text and ask students to crack the math code by finding the correct answers!
