Tennis Culture

Tennis culture is pretty close knit. All of the good players tend to know each other because of tournaments, which I think is pretty cool. This culture reaches all ages and all genders which means it's a very open and accepting culture as well. I joined this culture mainly in my Freshman year of high school when I joined the girls tennis team. Here is where I found some of my best friends and we all just go out, compete, and have a blast together.

Hawaiian Culture

The Hawaiian culture is very open and friendly. It is respectful and family oriented. Dancing is a big part and throwing a luau is very common. Growing up within the Hawaiian culture has given me the opportunity to see a contrast in different cultures after I moved to Utah. I appreciate the opportunity I have had to live in 2 very different places because of the contrasts. I have found that I've been a lot more open when meeting people from being around this culture. I've also grown to love dancing, hula in particular. I think I'm able to love new people more easily after living in this culture as well.

Women Culture

This culture is probably what has shaped me the most. I think women can always count on each other when needed. Within this culture you learn to be sympathetic and caring. I think it's important for women to support women in this culture because we all need to have that sense of comfort in knowing even if we feel alone, there's always going to be someone there, regardless on if we know them or not. I learned how to care for things even from a young age. I would always carry around a doll pretending it was a kid of my own. I watched my mom first hand and I tried my best to copy whatever she did because she was my first interaction and exposure to this culture.

Hiking Culture

This culture is fairly broad. Hiking could be in the summer or winter, easy or hard. I've found that within this culture people are very, very accepting. Some of the most open minded, carefree people are within this culture. You bond with people in the fact that you both like to put effort into seeking the highest point or waterfall. You don't have to dress up to hike, you just go as you are and thrive in nature. My favorite time to hike is winter by far. I think this culture has reminded me a lot that in order to see the view, you have to work for it. If you want to see the view, you have to keep pushing yourself. (pic from one of the best winter hikes I've been on)

LDS Culture

The LDS culture is fairly well known around the world. It emphasizes the family and teaches love and acceptance for everyone, regardless on what they believe in. Spreading love and light throughout the world is also something this culture is a big advocate for. Missionaries are sent throughout the world hoping to spread these messages. Growing up in this culture I definitely always felt like I had a support system. I think my love for people is greater because of this religious culture in my life. I'm glad I had this culture in my life growing up because even at a young age I was able to create standards for myself. (pic of brother returning from his mission)
