Q1: Educators can maintain high expectations for all students through each student's goal plan. No matter where a child is , it's up to the teacher to still hold them to goals that they set as students . It's our jobs as educators to help students to their goals and part of that is holding them to high expectations so that they can exceed beyond their goals.
Q2: Individualized healthcare plans are important for those with health impairments because generalized healthcare plans may not cover the specific needs for those persons. It might even be cheaper if one finds a plan specifically for their impairment because they know that their are experts of their conditions putting the right coverage.
Q3: An accommodation for a student who is physically impaired would be wider walk ways, door paths, and class arrangements, so a wheelchair can properly move around.

Q1: Educators should have high expectations out of all of their students because higher expectations yield better results according to research. I would hold all my students at the same standard because that is what helps students. It even motivates the students with disabilities because this method shows them that they are no different than the peers without disabilities. By doing this equal standard accountability type of thing you also allow for all your students to build confidence inside and out of the classroom.
Q2: Individualized healthcare plans are important for those individuals with health impairments because it allows them to be properly taken care of even though they have a chronic health condition. A lot of healthcare plans do not want to take on a chronic health issue, but with an individualized healthcare plan you are able to face less discrimination while still getting adequate care for your condition from people who know what they are doing for your specific disability.
Q3: A helpful accommodation for a student who is physically impaired, blind, would be preparing readings and homework on a tape ahead of schedule to give to them. You could make written information available in other formats that might be useful.

- Students learn at various speeds, and what one student might learn in a matter of minutes another student might learn it over a course of a week. Educators have to spend time with each student and getting a clear sense of how they learn. The teacher can then use the information to effectively teach the content to that specific student. As a teacher you don’t compare students in the class, you have to look at each student and where they were initially and to where they ended. If the student moved few points up that is progress. The expectations is that all students play a role in seeking to learn. The progression is comparing them with themselves.

- They need an individualized healthcare because of the cost it might be a better option. Students with health impairments, they are more prone to hospital visits. Parents might have other dependents and it would be high to cover the cost. Students with impairments will benefit having their own individualized plans, as it cuts down on the stress for the parents and cuts down on the bills as a whole.

- An accommodation for a student that has physical impairment maybe for them to sit in an area that requires them to be close to the door in case of an emergency. They may have a seat that is specifically made for them. In certain classes they probably are not permitted to be involved in any physical activity.

When I work with kids in a speech therapy session, the therapist I work under will sometimes say "Let's see if this child can do this" even though it may be slightly more challenging than their present level of performance. There are times when we do activities with no visuals. Sometimes they do surprisingly well.

Healthcare plans are important because the needs of their medical impairment need to be met throughout the school day.

One accommodation for a student with a physical impairment might be having allowing a child in a wheelchair more time to get to class or allowing them to transition before the other students while the hallway may be empty.

Educators can maintain high expectations for all students by continuing to teach them at a high standard. By providing different lesson plans and curriculum with a progression in difficulty levels will motivate the child to think and interact accordingly. The student will also be picking up crucial learning skills while being captivated during the learning process. As educators we tend to teach at the same or lower pace thinking that the students are not understanding the material; however they maybe not paying attention due to the skill level not being pushed further to a higher level.

Individual health care plans are important to those with health impairments due to the fact that they can go seek help when their health is deteriorating. Without an health care plan for those with health impairment they are at an disadvantage for when they require immediate attention.

One accommodation for student with physical impairment would be having technology accessible for their particular needs. This could be computer monitors that adjust to their levels if they are in a wheel chair, different types of key boards and mouses, and software that they can easily use and access.

Even though, the focus is on students with disabilities, the general student may not learn as quickly as the next general student. I believe “realistic” established expectations drives and motivate students. IHP’s are vital. The teacher need to be aware of the necessities of each child and it will help them provide the proper care when needed. I found that technology such as iPad’s and touchscreen has made a major impact on students with a visual impairment. Headphones are really good for students with hearing impairments.

Educators maintain high expectations by setting those standards and then maintaining them. It's up to the educator to set expectations, and then through different techniques reinforce those standards. Those standards should be attainable for the student(s) and should be reevaluated periodically.

Individualized plans are important because they ensure that each student is receiving care that is tailored to them. That means that the treatment, accommodations, medicines, and any other healthcare that they are receiving is being used to maintain or improve their current condition. It also informs educators of the students current conditions and limitations.

Accommodations differ from impairment to impairment. A student who is in a wheel chair could be accommodated for by creating space in the classrooms for him/her to have access. Or if a student is hearing impaired, having visual cues could be helpful.

Educators can encourage students in a positive way and providing a variety of educational supports and intervention strategies to help students succeed within the classroom.
2. Individualized health plans are important because this gives a way for students who have health impairments to be taken care of in their classroom setting allowing them to be able to receive the education that they need.
3. An accommodation that might be helpful for a student with a physical impairment is the arrangement of the classroom setting. For instance, if someone needs braces body braces (those used for walking), an educator can set aside some physical space within the classroom that's specifically for this student to access areas he/she needs to access.

Individualized healthcare plans are important so that in case of an emergency that teacher or staff member is prepared and knowledgeable about what the necessary steps are for that individual student. One accommodation that might be helpful for students with eye sight problems would be providing larger fonts, and or sitting that student close to the board/screen.

Andrea Stafford Educators can maintain a high expectation for all students by treating them as if they are capable of reaching far beyond common expectations. I think when you limit a child based on any disabilities that child tends to conform to those low expectations. Individualized healthcare plans are important for those with health impairments because it is an accommodation specifically tailored to that individual. It provides the most appropriate care so that the person is able to function the best way possible. Accommodations in the classroom are extremely helpful to the students. For example a student who has a visual impairment can be placed in the front of the class to see better. Those who have trouble moving around can be placed that they can access easily in the classroom where they feel as independent as the other students.

1. Educators can maintain high expectations for all students, even those with disabilities, by maintaining consistent in enforcing what's expected of each student everyday. This can be done with a list of student behavior expectations listed throughout the classroom. Also it can be read through and repeated by the instructor and students on a daily basis.

2. Individualized health plans assist in providing the correct instruction for that particular student. Ever student is unique, but those with a health impairment require a little more attention. With these health plans, information is provided that allows for specialization in that individuals specific health impairment.

3. First off, wheelchair rampsare an obvious accommodation for those that are inlcilined to wheelchairs. As for in the classroom, students with hearing impairments can be accommodated by having seats designated at the front of the classroom. Also another accommodation for those hearing impaired is writing down ALL important dates and information where they can easily view it.

Also keeping positive with your students no matter the results or your expectations.

2. It helps those who have health impairments, helping others to know what should be done and what works. Having one for each person breaks down the generalized concept and is more effective for each person.

3. I think a good accommodation being added more places now is a wheel chair ramp. I read an article about one student going on a field trip with her class and not being to go in because it wasn't wheel chair accessible. also making sure these student have the ability to walk freely through the classroom. so making space in the way we arrange our walk through.

1- It is highly important to maintain high expectations from all students including students with disability. Sometimes, teachers and parents lower their expectations, once child get diagnosed with a disability. However, it is important to maintain high expectations while providing necessary support and accommodations. Teachers might have to employ varying instructional and management strategies to support all the students, but they should never lower their expectations. IEP can be a useful document when figuring out how to provide appropriate support to the students with disability. The end goal should be to gradually decrease the assistance, while still making sure that the student is being successful and reachinghis academic goals.
2- IHP outlines any medical needs a child might have at school and how the school can meet those needs. It also helps identify support the child might require for his medical needs to be successful in the school environment. The school nurse, parents, and primary care physician can provide input and outline necessary support to help the student in the school environment.
3- To accommodate Blind/ visually impaired students, the teachers should keep the physical structure of the classroom consistent. They should also provide appropriate alternatives for all the written instructions during lesson. The student should also have access to audio recordings for all the reading material and books.

1. Educators can maintain high expectations for all students by treating all the students the same, when it comes to those expectations. Every student needs to know that they will be expected to complete the same work and be treated equally.
2. Individualized healthcare plans are important for those with health impairments because what works for one student, may not work for another. For example, students communicate differently when they are hearing impaired. One student may need to use auditory or oral systems while another student may need to use manual systems.
3. A good accommodation would be to provide lesson plans using all the five senses. That way, all students would be able to learn the way that's best for them.

1. I think it's important for educators to consider certain limitations that students' disabilities might present when setting standards in the classroom. That's not to say I think they should expect students with disabilities to learn less or be less capable, just that their learning or output may look different or be achieved at a different pace. I believe, by the way, that this principle applies to all students; cookie-cutter education ends up selling a majority of students' output short.

2. Individual healthcare plans ensure our students with individualized needs get the individualized care they need to be healthy and productive. No two students have the exact same needs, even those with the same impairments.

3. When thinking about students with physical impairments, my mind immediately jumps to the students' physical environment. Our schools should be equipped to meet the needs of students with physical limitations. This could mean wider doorways, wheelchair accessible desks or other appropriate seating, the arrangement of classrooms, ramp or elevator access, appropriate bathroom access, and cafeteria layout.

1) Educators can maintain high expectations for all students by playing their strengths and being cognizant of the limitations of each students. You should expect something different from each student as each student is different, has different needs, different strengths, and different weaknesses. Educators have to know what their students bring to the classroom in order to know what expectations to have.

2) Individualized Healthcare Plans are important for those with health impairments so the educator is aware of what steps are necessary to take for that student in case of emergencies. They ensure the safety of the student and fellow classmates as well. The educator has to be knowledgeable of what to do for the student with a health impairment and an IHP helps with that.

3) An accommodation that could be helpful for a student with a physical impairment would be to provide assistive technology to ensure the student still receives and understands course content.

1. Educators can maintain high expectations universally in the classroom, by explaining the goals of the classroom, as well as the rules. The high expectations should be at times unbendable. It’s about not penalizing the students with a disability, nor allowing their disabilities to define them in the classroom.

2. The individualized healthcare plan helps to delineate the personalized plan for the student. In case of an emergency, or just to explain the steps a teacher is to take when the student shows signs of the health impairment.

3. An example of an accommodation would be printed notes from a class, for a student whose disability impairs their fine motor skills.

1. Educators can maintain high expectations for all students (even those with disabilities) by treating each child fairly. If needed the instructor should accommodate the child that needs extra assistance. For example: Instead of revising and modifying an assignment the teacher should offer additional tutoring so that each student will be able to complete the tasks.
2. Individualized healthcare plans are essential to those with health impairments because each student is different. Every child needs their own plan which will specifically identify their needs and will help the teacher provide it in the best way possible.
3. An accommodation for a child with physical impairments would be to provide a wheelchair ramp or incorporate several visual activities so the child does not feel left out.

1. Educators can maintain high expectations for all students by realistically setting expectations that are achievable by each individual student. Set the bar where you believe to be reasonable for all students (including those with disabilities.) Every child is different and every person has strength and weaknesses so get to know your students and let them know you expect their best and if they struggle, be open and let them know you are always willing to help.

2. Individualized healthcare plans are important to those with health impairments because it allows the teacher to help and provide the right care needed to the student efficiently and effectively. It is important for a teacher to be knowledgable of how to handle a certain situation in case of an emergency.

3. One accommodation that may be helpful with a student with a physical impairment such as use of a wheelchair would be to allow them to get to their class earlier than the other children so they have room in the hallway to wheelchair around and can get settled before the other children arrive.

1.) Educators can maintain high expectations for all students, even those with disabilities by setting 3 general goals that they would like to achieve with the student and see if they accomplished it.
2.) Individualized healthcare plans is important for those with health impairments, because it needs to benefit the individual or it would not be effective. Also, every student is different so knowing their personal health plan is super important incase something happens.
3.) One accommodation that would help would be making the school wheelchair accessible, and making it easy for them to use.
