To add technology to this strategy, teachers can display on the screens a fitness video, yoga, dance, etc. to get students up and moving. My first grade students love Go Noodle for their brain breaks. Check it out below!

2. Corners Activities:
To add technology to this strategy, teachers can use a name generator to create groups. The one I have on my laptop is called Selector Tool. If you have iPads in your classroom you could post a QR code for students to scan to see the questions. Students really enjoy and engage with QR codes in my first grade classroom.

This strategy is also known as a brain break. This activity provides an opportunity for students to step away from the learning content and out of their seat. Students can stand up, stretch, and move around in between lessons. Transition time is a great time for a quick break. The more movement will get an increase of oxygen and pump blood to the students brain to keep them actively participation in lessons. Even adding motions to lessons gets students more active and energized.

2. Corners Activities:
This strategy separates students into groups. Around the room there are questions posted for students to answer. Each group will have a peer leader who will record the groups answers. As students answer the question, they have a discussion and collaborate on it. After so many minutes the groups will rotate to the next question. Once each group has went to each corner question students will go back to the area to share.
