         <description><![CDATA[<div>Learners with learning difficulties, particularly those on the autistic spectrum, can have difficulties with understanding relationships within an inclusive learning environment. <br><br>National Star and Gloucestershire colleges SFA/ECU GPF project (2014/15) created activities and resources to:</div><ul><li>enable greater understanding of sexual orientation </li><li>a greater ability to recognise diversity in their communities</li><li>make informed choices about their own sexuality</li></ul><div>Resources were used in formally observed classes to assess impact on learners' understanding of the subject.<br><br></div><div>Access the resources via Ark Hive and find out what they would do differently now.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Findings?<br></strong>Only a third (34.6%) of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) students at college or university participate in organised team sport. One in seven (14.3%) said that homophobia, biphobia, or transphobia put them off participating. Many LGBT students (37.8%) who do take part in sport are not open about their sexuality with teammates or coaches.<br><strong>Recommendations?</strong></div><ul><li>tackle prejudice and discrimination in schools</li><li>LGBT-friendly sports&nbsp; groups that do not tolerate abuse</li><li>Student unions to provide a strong lead</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Just as they need functional English and maths, learners must now leave college with a sound understanding of Equality and Diversity in order to function successfully at work and as citizens in a diverse society. <br><br>In 2013/2014, <strong>Fircroft College's EDIF project</strong> tested out three strategies (long course – classroom discreet, short course – classroom embedded, very short course – residential) with a <strong>particular focus on the LGB and T equalities strands </strong>to see which approach was most effective in ensuring the curriculum at college equips learners with these skills. </div>]]></description>
