Abortion is the ending of pregnancy by removal or forcing out from the womb a fetus or embryo before it's able to survive on its own, usually this is done on purpose and is known an induced abortion. There are different methods such as medicines and surgical procedures. Most abortions happen within the first trimester before it can survive on its own. If you choose to get one after the fetus is able to survive on its own it is known as a "late termination of pregnancy" in which you can take medications but surgical methods have a lower risk of side effects. In most states in the US, late term (farther than week 24) abortions are not legal unless the life of the mother is in danger. 44 million abortions are preformed globally each year and under half of those performed unsafely. The laws surrounding abortion vary greatly worldwide but those who are against abortion generally state that an embryo/fetus is a human with the right to live and may compare abortion to murder. Those who support abortion emphasize a woman's right to decide matters concerning her own body.

She explains the reasoning for women to always have the right to control what goes in and out of the uterus. Having a child can drastically change one's lifestyle and requires heavy financial responsibility therefore in order to effectively plan for a child you need to have the choice to take on the responsibilities that come with a child. Pregnancy can also be considered a health risk and without an option to abort the pregnancy it can cause serious damage for the mother and possibly the child. Abortion saves lives even if one's life isn't directly or immediately affected by the pregnancy. Every women deserves the right to the choice.

In this article they list why abortion is good. Women should have a moral right to decide what they do with their bodies. The right to abortion is vital for gender equality, and can also help individual women achieve their full potential. If you ban abortion it can lead women to illegal abortionists which can be unsanitary and harmful towards the mother. Women are more affected than men in the choice of abortion physically and emotionally therefore the right to choosing can reduce stress. Mostly when dealing with the topic people need to regard the woman as a person rather than a container for the fetus.

I like the positive articles you chose because they brought up the important points of being pro-choice. The second article especially brings up the points that influence me the most. Illegal abortions are very unsafe and can cause many more health issues. I especially like when the second article stated that a woman's body is more than just a container for a fetus.

This article talks about all the negative physical and psychological issues that can come from getting an abortion. Some of the physical problems that could come with an abortion would be hemorrhages, infections, cervical damage, pelvic inflammatory disease and others concerning the uterus. Abortion can also create long term risks and make it harder for future reproductive success. It can increase the risk of future children being premature which also can have health risks. Some psychological issues include anxiety, depression, alcohol use, drug use, and suicidal behavior. Research stated that the suicide rate following abortion was nearly six times greater than the suicide rate following childbirth. It also can cause problems between you and your partner and many seek support and help to deal with their grief.

This article talks about ten reasons why you shouldn't have an abortion and why it's bad. It says that if a woman is raped you should not solve a traumatic experience with another traumatic experience like abortion. Multiple reasons are along the lines of killing innocent people or punishing them. It violates civil rights towards the unborn child because they are deprived life without any choice. Abortion can also harm the women physically and cause problems with their relationships and families. It can cause new problems and it's a new way to avoid responsibility. Overall the pain from abortion never goes away and the choice will stay with a woman forever.

This picture respresents my topic because of it being so controversial. It can relate because there are people who are totally against this and some people are pro choice. Some people fall under the choice for abortion only under certain circumstances. Those who support abortion under certain circumstances I view as the line in this picture.

This relates to my topic because they have the same view as me. No woman is "free" if they don't have full control over their bodies with every choice. Just like a women has a choice to keep the baby or give the baby up for adoption they should have the choice to terminate the pregnancy if she wants to. I totally agree with the quote.

Two people responded to what I said on the cohort page and I can see their view on it. They mentioned that there is always adoption as an option which is true so that was a good point made. They made a valid point when they said the mother could always find couple that would love a baby no matter the circumstances like being raped which could be true. Coming from a personal view of being an adopted child, it leaves a lot of unanswered questions. One girl said they could give the baby up for adoption and never have to see that child again which is definitely true but what about the adopted child? I have many adopted friends who would do anything to find their birth parents and just ask simple questions that no one can honestly answer except for the birth parents. For some the bond between the adoptive parents and the birth parents can never be the same, especially if its a closed adoption. If you can't find a couple right away that wants to adopt but also don't want to keep the baby because of it being such a traumatic experience then what?

I am pro life so I would say that a parent has the right to know if their child is getting an abortion. above all an abortion is wrong and there shouldn't be any need for an abortion in my opinion.
