This interdisciplinary project connects biology, arts, and literacy by exploring the complexities of the human brain through multiple lenses. In science, students investigate the anatomy, functions, and disorders of the brain, learning how it shapes perception, emotions, and identity. The arts provide a platform for creative expression, allowing students to translate these scientific insights into visual compositions or performative works that communicate ideas related to perception, emotion and mental health related to artworks and artists that resonates with the theme. Literacy deepens the connection by examining how stories, like those in Turtles All the Way Down and The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, situates a given text within the context of its creation and uses narrative to depict the brain’s role in human experience.
