         <description><![CDATA[<blockquote>"Most advertising agencies consisted of men, a discrepancy that led to copy <strong>written by males but meant for women</strong>" (Young 47).</blockquote><div>As pointed out by Young, the advertising that occurred during this era was mostly <strong>spread by men</strong>. Leaving women out of the picture meant that they were <strong>unable to give their own opinion</strong> on the matter, leaving the stereotype in advertising to run wild and free.</div>]]></description>

To justify the discriminatory practices against women, popular culture began to create the concept of the <strong>proper role for women</strong>. “Studies of postwar culture found that government propaganda, popular magazines, and films reinforced <strong>traditional concepts of femininity</strong> and instructed women to subordinate their interests to those of returning male veterans" (Holt).</blockquote><div>By creating this role of an "<strong>ideal woman</strong>" many women then began to follow this <strong>societal standard</strong>, and may still do so to this day.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<blockquote>"Evidence also shows that many <strong>aspects of gender are simply not innate</strong>, as evidenced by children who do not exhibit a gender-based preference for such things as friends, clothing or toys when placed in gender- neutral settings. <strong>Only after negative reactions</strong> from peers, the media, or social institutions like schools do many of these children begin to “like” or <strong>take on the gender roles</strong> they have come to see as appropriate for them" (Holt).</blockquote><div>As people get older they normally don't have a grasp on what a women or a man should do really, people see everything through more of a <strong>gender neutral sight</strong>, not really giving a care as to who should do what. It's what <strong>societies expectations</strong> bring upon people that make them <strong>feel forced to fit in these roles</strong>.</div>]]></description>
