Feeding back a comment from another SEM: This may be controversial but I think it would be great to have some development around how we could provide effective and more developmental feedback to students in TMAs. Perhaps as we roll out the new marking tools… look at building in some universal and pre-populated field to encourage some standardisation so we have an “OU” way of feeding back. Could open a pandoras box though. I am looking to undertake some scholarship on this aspect of our work…

Exclusive homeworking is very isolating and for some people experienced as soul destroying. We do need to recognise that this way of working carries negative impacts as well as positive ones. And not everyone has appropriate space so it is very mixed.
Rob Tumilty - We’re planning to run 2 x ‘super’ conferences within FBL for 100 ALs and 100 students together, held in MK and replicated in Glasgow in March 2021. I’m responsible for overseeing it but am increasingly getting feedback from colleagues that there may not be much of an appetite for large f2f gatherings, even by the spring. It may end up being online instead or a mix of the two. So, it’s been really interesting to hear others thoughts about f2f conferences during this session.

Janet - LHCS 50 event

In our school (LHCS) we ran an event to celebrate the 50 year anniversary and invited 50 ALs from the School - to meet central staff, including curriculum managers, module team members, technicians, and also members of the SST - at Walton Hall. We called it a conference rather than an ALSD event - it attracted some ALs who rarely come to SD events. Aim was to help ALs feel part of the School - they had been excluded from most other OU50 events. It was hugely successful and the feedback was wonderful - but this was funded by the school, not by ALSPD
