One reason that I think that he was great was because he cared about his citizens and their well being. This is a trait that is and always has been rare when it comes to a king/ruler. Another thing that makes Alexander the Great, great is that he was never afraid to fight with his men on the battle field. He also always lead the men that he took into battle to victory. The final thing that makes him so great is that he inspired leaders to be better people and to be upstanding and excepting of other cultures.
