"Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment" is a phrase that could never be more true. Our goals are but thoughts inside our head. It fills us with a sense of accomplishment despite never putting any action into it. It has been researched that thinking about our goals gives us as much serotonin as we would have if we reaped them first hand. "I think therefore I am" applies very much differently in this case. Discipline is a muscle that needs to be trained like will power. Without discipline the line between procrastination and laziness are blurred. Without Discipline our goals would very much just be wishful thinking. Especially as creatives where our skills are subjugated by our own orders. Our instructors could send us hundreds of proper materials to guide and aid our learning experience but with Discipline alone would we be able to apply them to our daily lives. We could half-ass every homework and project and we might pass, but with Discipline could we be able to be recognized as industry worthy. To accomplish something would require work. Not only the actual just with our pen and paper or our computers, it requires deeper work in our mindsets.

"We are not studying for School but for Life" To be perfectly honest, these words meant very little to me for it did not apply to my past learning experience. I've been subjected to a 7AM to 9PM Class with only an hour break a day, 5 days a week. Worked for the student council to gain a scholarship to pay for my tuition fee with the goal to serve others as my second priority, and went to school everyday dreading that tomorrow would be exactly the same experience as I have 3 years prior to enrolling. 'Studying', or in this case, memorizing and reviewing material was a chore, especially so when you are 'taught' by equally disheartened instructors. Nonetheless, I found myself thoroughly relishing my experience in my first term as a CIIT Student. The instructors are very giving in terms of wisdom and counsel for our lives inside the industry. Our homeworks gave me a sense of purpose that I very much enjoy, our lectures, even though they aren't at all Art related filled me vigor, especially when we were discussing sociology and philosophy, where both applies to our daily lives. Before transferring, I've yet to encounter subjects that didn't fill me with boredom or dread... or both. I guess it's safe to say that my mindset has played a big role in that matter but lately I have found myself studying for the sake of studying, which I love. I love learning and I am very passionate about gaining wisdom in our lives. For that, I am very grateful to our school. I believe it not only takes a good student to change ones mindset but also the environment that they are in for it greatly influences their decision making and actions. I believe it also takes a good school to guide a student to their goals, to get their hard earned money's worth, to instill values into them, and to help them get closer to the person they want to be.
The President

BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND

I definitely agree with the President's sentiment in regards to having a cohesive end goal in mind even in the early process of our journey as creatives. Having a distinct path or goal makes it easier for us to compartmentalize, plan ahead, and choose which parts of our lives we should prioritize and which to leave behind. I am currently studying as an animator therefore all the things I do right now that isn't for my artistic growth is trivial to sustain the life I want to be living after I graduate. The skills that I don't acquire now would be detrimental. Having small goals are the vegetables that will sustain my journey as well.

SOFT SKILLS

Soft skills are skills that don't require mathematical equations nor rocket science. It doesn't require us to be cohesive in Photoshop or rendering a piece of artwork, soft skills are skills that aren't mastered using the computer but skills that we should be able to master by connecting with other people. By being empathetic to their needs, being observant, and being tactful or 'madiskarte'. These skills may not be taught first hand in school but it could be practiced within the walls of our classrooms, or by working with our classmates, by being a thoughtful worker. These skills come with experience and rapport that is very important in basically every industry.

I feel pretty privileged for the abundance of commodities the school has to offer. I like the fact that everything is also easily acquirable for students and I believe we are getting what we're paying for. I appreciate the weekly informative emails I receive from the Clinic and I albeit the fact that I don't get to read all of them, the effort and the thought of people preparing something holistic is very heartwarming. Indeed our bodies and our health should be our top most priority and I believe that no matter how far one has come in terms of social standing or career, no matter how explosive their back account may be, if their health deteriorates, everything will be for naught.

To be perfectly honest I was not even aware that there was a library service where I could actually borrow books from the school's collection. As someone who has always lived on a budget, art books has definitely never been in my list of necessities and I have only acquired knowledge through mediums that are available to me. In my past schools we've never actually had books that were easily accessible and the friction towards acquiring them wasn't really worth the books so we never really took time to do so. But during this pandemic, I was pleased to know that the static and hassle from acquiring books has been eased by the school. It really goes tot show how much the school cares in delivering what their students are paying for.
