Gustav and a chemist named Robert Bunsen created the theory of spectrum analysis. In 1845, Gustav first announced how to be able to calculate currents, or Kirchhoff's Law. In 1847, Kirchhoff became Privatedozen at the University of Berlin. Then in 1854, he became the Professor or Physics at the University of Heidelberg, where he met Bunsen and created the spectrum analysis.
