Audrey, known around here as “Froggie,” is a treasured member of our Sanctuary community, and she’s been a beautiful addition since day one, many years ago—both through her joyful demeanour and through the vibrant art she creates to share with her friends.

On Thursday mornings, we host an art drop-in that we call Studio Sanctuary. Everybody is welcome, and we encourage our friends to pass the word along and invite others. Some of the people who participate are experiencing poverty while living on the street, and some people are not, but it’s a time when everyone can come together to celebrate the process of creation and growth that comes with practicing our gifts. It’s truly an encouraging time of fellowship and collaboration, each week.

Click Link for full story: http://sanctuarytoronto.ca/city-of-refuge/sep16/

Sharing our lives and our resources, we reach out to a downtown neighbourhood offering dignity, support and direction to people who want to reclaim healthy, meaningful lives. Through drop-ins, street outreach and one-to-one relationships, we offer food, clothing and basic health care. Our staff help individual community members access welfare, housing, legal counsel, medical care, counselling, therapy or drug rehabilitation. Perhaps the most valuable thing we offer is simple friendship.

Effectiveness of Movement?

It is a very effective social organization because it helps all type of people and are not limited to just a specific group of people. However this organization is special because they build relationships with those that they help and not just give them aid and leave. They treat those that are in need of aid as if they are someone more than just in need of help. They the team of Sanctuary immerse themselves and listen to the stories on how they ended up in the place they are today. That is something other organizations do not do as well as Sanctuary Toronto.

My Opinion

I would support this organization because they provide aid for all people that are in need and do not only focus on one specific issue. They also build relationships with those are in need and not just provide them aid. Being able to build speak to those and understand their story is a better than just providing aid in my opinion. Not only do they provide aid but also provide skills valuable life skills that including cooking and human interaction.
