“No law can be sacred to me but that of my nature.” This quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson's Self Reliance, shows Spiritual well-being over social well-being and self reliance. This quote is talking about how he doesn't need organized religion to have faith in a higher power. He is reliant on his own belief system and is content without others swaying his faith.

This song has the transcendental property of self-reliance. Self-reliance is shown in the lyrics, "Don't you tell me what you think that I could be, I’m the one at the sail, I’m the master of my sea”. The artist doesn't want to be told what goals to pursue. Another line that shows self-reliance is, "I'mma say all the words inside my head, I'm fired up and tired of the way that things have been,” which explains that he's done with people trying to control how he acts, speaks, and thinks. "Taking my message from the veins, speaking my lesson from the brain” shows that he relies on his own mind and soul to lead himself.

Ralph Waldo Emerson greatly articulates the idea that one's spiritual well-being is more important than one's financial or social well-being. He does this by describing his own withdrawal from civilization. He says in Nature, “The name of the nearest friend sounds then foreign and accidental: to be brothers, to be acquaintances, [...] is then a trifle and a disturbance,” which displays his lack of social prioritization. In another quote from Nature that expresses his disinterest in human relationships, he claims, “In the wilderness, I find something more dear and connate than in streets or villages.” This quote fits into spiritual well-being over social and financial well-being because it shows how he values being in nature over being in a community.

This is Transcendental because it shows a tree growing from a heart. It signifies the love of nature and the idea that nature heals the soul. It could also symbolize the tenant of intuition leads to knowledge with an old, wise tree growing from a heart.
