How are assignments known before they are chosen for Twelves?

The Elders watch the kids all the way up until they reach the Twelves. They watch everything they do, including what they do for their volunteer hours. If someone really wants a certain assignment, they would have to do everything they can when the Elders are watching, and they most likely will get that assignment.

The idea of the perfect Utopia connects to the apple. When you eat an apple, you eat the sweet part and throw away the core, or the bitter part. In Jonas's Utopia, the good people stay, and the people that break the rules, as well as newchildren who have disabilities, get released, or let go of the community.

What are some things the Utopia forbids?

One thing that they forbid is riding a bicycle before they go to the Nines. Once they go to this age group, they get their bicycles, and they can ride them all they want. Another thing that is forbidden is not telling your entire dream. Everyone, starting at the Threes, is required to tell everyone in their family unit their entire dream the previous night. Finally, one more thing is talking about differences. Asher takes the Stirrings pills, while Jonas doesn't. This is forbidden to talk about this because it could be an uncomfortable conversation

The Receiver's House is different from all the other houses in the community in many ways. One is that it is more luxurious than the others. Another difference is that the Receiver's house is filled with bookshelves with lots of books. Finally, the Receiver's house has lots of privacy, including a lock and the ability to turn off the speaker. The reason for these differences is that the Receiver is the most important job in their community, and they need to be treated well.

When Jonas says this, he means that he thought they were the only people living, that his community was the only in the world. He didn't know that other people or communities ever existed before. This is not a good way to live because it is good to get to know the world around you. Most people don't like secrets being kept away from them, and this is just like that.

Jonas is surprised when The Giver turns the speaker off and locks the door. This is because he has never seen a lock before, or the ability to just turn off the speaker. From this, I can infer that no one in the community has privacy, since he has never seen a lock before.

The second was a memory of sunshine, which he also enjoyed. The final one, however, was very painful. It was a memory of sunburn, one which he did not like at all.

This book is titled "The Giver". That is also the name of the old man that is training Jonas to become the next Receiver. This is very important because he has to make sure he does all the right things in order for Jonas to succeed. This is significant because The Giver has to properly teach Jonas for him to become successful.
