The catholic church settles her death on the 22nd of November, in a determined year between 180 and 230 A.D.
In 1594, pope Gregorio XIII named her as patroness of musicians.
Most of her history is known thanks to the appearence in the middle of the fifth century of some texts called 'Acts of Martyrdom of Saint Cecilia'.
These texts say that she converted to christianity and her parents married her to a noble man, and on the wedding night  she announced that she had given her life to God.
During this period Christians had serious problems with Rome so Cecilia and her husband were sentenced to death.
