A real-life example of simple distillation would be to separate ethanol - the alcohol in alcoholic drinks - from the water.

The mixture is heated in a flask. Ethanol has a lower boiling point than water so it evaporates first. The ethanol vapor is then cooled and condensed inside the condenser to form a pure liquid. When all the ethanol has evaporated from the solution, the temperature rises and the water evaporates.

This is the sequence of events in distillation:

heating → evaporating → cooling → condensing

Distillation is the technique of heating a liquid to create vapor which is collected when cooled separately from the original liquid. It's based on the different boiling point or volatility values of the components. The technique may be used to separate components of a mixture or to aid in purification.
The equipment used for distillation may be called a distillation apparatus or still.

The water and ethanol solution is heated and evaporation occurs, once it reaches the

The water and ethanol solution is heated and evaporation occurs, once it reaches the cool surface and it turns into water droplets and it passes through the syringe and drip into another beaker.

Distillation is a widely used method for separating mixtures based on differences in the conditions required to change the phase of components of the mixture. To separate a mixture of liquids, the liquid can be heated to force components, which have .different boiling points, into the gas phase. The gas is then condensed back into liquid form and collected.

Allow sufficient space to work in. Your distillation area should be well lit, clean and well ventilated to prevent the accumulation of alcoholic vapours.
When working with flammable liquids such as ethanol care should be taken to eliminate any fire hazards. Keep a fire extinguisher handy and collect the distillate securely so the risk of spilling it is reduced. Don't smoke!
Before any distillation, please ensure that there is no obstruction in the piping that could cause excessive pressure build up in the still and cause it to burst. You may risk burning yourself if the vapours do not have an easy exit point. For this reason we frequently emphasise that the alembic head should be placed loosely on the pot, for appropriate models, so it may easily pop off in such a case
