After World War I, some radio enthusiasts tried to establish an informal network across the UK until Peter Eckersley (cousin of Aldous Huxley [5]) took a more strategic approach and eventually became the first Chief Engineer of the British Broadcasting Company (BBC).

Watch this short video and make notes about radio technology during this time:

Aldous Leonard Huxley was an English novelist and critic gifted with an acute and far-ranging intelligence whose works are notable for their wit and pessimistic satire. He remains best known for one novel, Brave New World (1932), a model for much dystopian science fiction that followed. Brave New World is set in 2540 CE, which the novel identifies as the year AF 632. AF stands for “after Ford,” as Henry Ford’s assembly line is revered as god-like; this era began when Ford introduced his Model T.

Aldous Huxley’s home with an English Heritage blue plaque

Einstein and Roosevelt: a pivotal correspondence between two key voices at the time

In August 1939, Einstein wrote to U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt to warn him that the Nazis were working on a new and powerful weapon: an atomic bomb. Fellow physicist Leo Szilard urged Einstein to send the letter and helped him draft it. Although he never worked directly on the atomic bomb, Einstein is often incorrectly associated with the advent of nuclear weapons. He repeatedly reminded people, "I do not consider myself the father of the release of atomic energy. My part in it was quite indirect."

Follow this link and make notes about The Manhattan Project :
