In my story, a painted image of a bird becomes alive with the touch of a wind, taste of raindrop, accepting the invitation of the sky to roam around. He chases his freedom, spreading his wings and the world responds with a quiet crescendo: leaves rustling like applause, clouds parting like curtains, and the light stretching over him like a spotlight. The bird is not alone, mute and lifeless anymore, neither he is trapped on wooden fence. Instead, he can rest in the shade of green tree and enjoy the company his winged friends.

Yet the mystery remains. The house still stands in silence. The fence still bears its painted birds. And still, no one sees the artist. No one knows where the birds go or why they vanish. But now, somewhere in the music of the sky, one bird sings a new note—a song of freedom, of becoming, of flight.

This reminds me of the TED Talk by Tania de Jong, where she spoke about how we often move through life confined by invisible boxes, missing the richness and beauty that surrounds us. She shared how true creative potential is often hidden away, and how it can be unlocked through the transformative power of music. (TEDx Talks, 2014)

When selecting the soundtracks for my experience, I was inspired by Cass Lynch’s Watershed. I blended natural sounds—like birds, rain, and wind—with artificial, mysterious tones to craft a magical ambiance where sound and music could deepen the storytelling and evoke emotion and perfectly create a dramatic atmosphere. (Lynch,2021)

This experience has also reaffirmed the importance of engaging with the natural world and emphasizing the importance of giving young children time, space, and rich opportunities to explore through all eight senses (auditory, gustatory, visual, olfactory, tactile, vestibular, proprioception, and interoception ) creating meaningful, engaging learning environments filled with wonder. (Gano, Krull, 2020). Moving forward, I aim to continue exploring nature as a source of inspiration, using its sounds, movements, and changing drama to guide my creative projects. I hope to also incorporate open ended, inclusive, differentiated materials and a thoughtful stage (space) for pretend / Dramatic play as suggested by Marisa Wallin in her article, so that children can explore and express themselves through their own interactions with nature, helping them develop a deeper connection with the temporal arts around them. (Wallin,2019)
