Though he is not currently a teacher here at Southwest, he was an absolutely phenomenal teacher when I had him last year. Never in my entire life have I felt so heard and seen by a teacher. He read every single essay, summary, annotation, and note that I wrote and would always respond to them with his own thoughts and opinions on the matter. He would never put up a front or regularly speak in a subtly condescending manner like many teachers do - which, I get it, at some point it's merely a subconscious factor that is bound to the profession, but man... it's so refreshing and motivating to be treated as an equal.

Most days, I would be so insanely agitated sitting in his classroom, watching as he was constantly interrupted and dismissed. He, of all people, deserved to be heard. He was so passionate about what he taught. Anytime I expected him to emit frustration, because I know I would if I was in his situation, he would show nothing but compassion and understanding instead.

He'd always say hi to me when he saw me outside of class. He'd always check up on everyone in my class. It's almost unreal for someone to be such a gem of a person.

I always think of this one day he saw me when I was sitting outside of the school, skipping class. He didn't acknowledge my objectively irresponsible decision, but rather, he sat next to me and asked me what I thought about turning writing into a career. I told him I wasn't too sure about it, and that I'd probably end up doing something much less significant. Still, he showed me nothing but support.

I, without a doubt, would not be the person I am today had he never been my teacher. I learned so much from him - so much beyond his standard material as an English instructor. Thank you, Mr. Cruise, for being the best teacher anyone could ask for.

I’ve never trusted teachers before highschool and I didn’t think I’d ever meet teachers who I would actually like, but when I entered Mr. Hadd’s class last year, I learned that there are actually good teachers and I can trust some. I thought his class was boring at first cause i didn’t have any friends in that class so I just wanted to get out of it but after awhile i started having fun there because of his weirdly funny dad jokes that weren’t really supposed to be funny but they were, I just didn’t want to admit to it. I was kinda sad that I had to leave his class but I’m glad I stayed in the media program after his class. Meeting ms.Mccready was probably the best thing i’ve done in high school since not only is she super nice but she is also very supportive of her students. I feel welcomed every time I walk into her class because she always greets her students at the door with a warm vibe. She’s like a ball of sunshine I swear I’ve seen her glow sometimes, she never get mad at you for small things and never treats anyone badly. Both Mr Hadd and Ms Mccready are incredible teachers, I feel bad because they are truly amazing and it must suck that they have to carry the whole school on their back. Just kidding. Maybe. - Oz 🦈

Thank you coach for letting me train in weight room every day after school, lunch, and in class. The best thing about you coach is that you always correct me when I'm doing things wrong and you made me stronger person. First day of weight room i could only bench the bar, now i can bench the 35s with 5 pounds on the bar. All that work that you given to me paid off.

Also shootout to the Lunch Ladies and the custodians that clean and give us lunch everyday even tho the food is bad.
