I think it is a new type of writing process that will help students get better at writing. I also saw a couple statements that students must be engaged to be able to learn. Some of the sub titles led me to this conclusion and while I was skimming I saw some similar things.

I think they will explain these different forms of literacies and how they can be helpful with the reading and writing process. Additionally there was sections breaking down the types of literacies into academic or digital etc which will support how there are different forms of literacies which led me to this prediction. I think this article will also give insight on how these different forms of literacy can give people a more well-rounded view of certain topics.

I'm assuming they'll provide different resources in order to help students prepare for higher education or just improve their knowledge of literacies. I saw a guide/ list of tasks that were provided which could help when approaching critical literacy. It seemed pretty straight forward and simple to follow, which i would assume to be helpful for students.

After a quick scan and skim of this article, I think the main idea of this article is that in modern society, student should not have the ability just on their basic reading and writing strategies; instead, they should have other high-level abilities as well. The article pointed out how and what to do to reach this goal. I noticed that many titles from this article and the chart in the article indicates we should learn those stuff together. Also, in the conclusion, it mentions that college students should have this kind of ability.

I think Miller and Schulz's article will also talk about different forms of literacy.

1.) I think the main argument in the Miller and Schulz article will be around how students at this day and age should have high reading and writing abilities in all core literacies. That they should be able to write a more than above average paper on why this explain something in a core, traditional, modern or scientific literacies. I think another important part of the article will be about how college students need to be taught more about how to write in the correct way and be taught that rather than just being told to do so and learn strategies
on the best way to do so.

After scanning the Miller and Schulz article I believe that I have a perfunctory grasp on what the main ideas are. The purpose of the article is to prepare students for what they do post secondary education. Miller and Schulz present 4 types of literacies. Depending on what you are doing post secondary education, the type of literacy will vary. The article then goes into detail about what each type of literacy is, how to succeed in them, and finally how to implement them. I was led to this prediction by the graphs, abstract, and headlines.

Step 1: Miller and Schchulz's article is about a 4 part literacy system (multi literacy model) that is supposed to help students improve upon their abilities by directly engaging in the act of literacy practice rather than simply passively observing. There was a diagram of the multi literacy model explaining each of its components. After reading the abstract and conclusion which both spoke of directly confronting the constant expansion of literacy in order to grow, I'm assuming the multi literacy model is a framework just for that.

Step 2: My prediction was on point, but not completely there., The simple summary I gave didn't encapsulate the potential of the multi literacy system, but gave the general idea. Where my prediction mainly differed was how the multi literacy model is more of a structuring "view/perspective" rather than a actual model. Scanning, skimming, and predicting helped tremendously with my reading speed. I typically always read word by word, which enabled deep understanding at the cost of time. The new technique is more practical in terms of time and adequate understanding in terms of the course's goals.

I predict the key idea of the article is that universities and education needs to teach a wider range of literacies and not just academic literacies. While I was scanning I read a lot of information that stated the corporate world and universities value literacies in areas that are most beneficial outside of academia. This refers to reading, writing, and communication skills. I also read that universities are ill-prepared to help students in the wide range of literacies because of what they value. I also read that students have a large array of literacies such as ones in the digital world, face-to-face communication, etc. This contributed to my thinking that the article's main point is about how universities should expand students' range of literacies.

The Multi-Literacy model is adapted to this situation: it does not treat students as passive recipients of literacy teaching, but rather involves them in the literacy framework. Literacy should be a lifelong tool for students and constantly change to adapt to the environment with the development of society.
