I do agree with the decision of LeandroVS. State. I believe that it is important to provide children with the right to an equal education. I think that it's important that teachers are paid equally because that helps to make sure that teachers are happy and will stay in their positions longer. If you have the option to make more money in a school that has more funding, most teachers are going to take that offer. I also agree that all schools should be provided with the educational materials that they need. We need to ensure that teachers have the materials they need without having to spend money from their own pockets. Ido think it gets tricky when it comes to fundraising. Some counties require all fundraising money to be sent to the school board and it gets shared with other school. I do however believe that if the students and families of a particular school works hard to raise money, then that money should stay in their school.

Before this decision, schools have been forced to work with dilapidated materials, and unsavoury conditions. This will help give schools the funding they need to be functional.

I think that it should be the duty of the state to ensure that every student receives an equitable education, no matter the wealth of their family or their community. I also think that the establishment of specific guidelines that comprise what a "sound basic education" is, increases the accountability of the state to ensure that these specific guidelines are met for each and every student.

I think that it is very important that all children have the same opportunities to an equal education no matter of their income and I think it is the States job to ensure that this happens. I also believe that making NC responsible for upholding these things is good. However, I just don't think that we have upheld the "equal funding" part, the part that may be the most neglected in the past. The decision was great. I just wish there were a little more accountability to uphold these rules.

I agree with the case Leandro v. State because if the children were not able to receive the proper education than other children in the surrounding counties then it was not fair for the children and their families. Just like it stated in the state constitution, North Carolina is required to provide schools with adequate resources to fully educate disadvantaged students and they were not doing so throughout these five low wealth rural counties. Those students have a right for a proper education which this lawsuit demanded it, they needed extra funding because they could not compete with other school districts surrounding them regarding teacher pay, special services or educational materials.

I believe that every individual student should receive a fair and equitable education, regardless of their family and their school districts property value and income of their residence. To a fair, sound basic education and making the state of North Carolina held responsible for the funding of an equal and fair education for all students.
