- Odysseus and his men land on the island of the Cyclopes. They find a large cave and, despite the warnings of his men, Odysseus decides to explore it, driven by curiosity about who lives there.

Rising Action

1. The Cyclops, Polyphemus, returns to the cave and traps Odysseus and his men by rolling a massive stone over the entrance. He begins to eat the men two at a time.

2. Odysseus devises a plan, offering Polyphemus wine and telling him his name is "Nobody."

3. Polyphemus, drunk and careless, promises to eat "Nobody" last, and falls into a deep sleep.

Climax
