"When my sister was born I was 4 years old and I remember when they brought her home from the hospital looking into the bassinet. “Who is this taking my place” I felt so jealous of her because she was so cute."

4th of July vs. Christmas

Although Marilyn's birthday is on the 4th of July, and she used to think the fireworks were for her, her favorite holiday will always be Christmas. She loves family being together, all the joy, and of course, the desserts!

Athletics

Marilyn never played a sport in grade school or in college, she states, "I'm too unathletic for any of that. But I did spend most of my childhood outside playing with Ken."

Marilyn went to Thiel College where she met her husband, Melvin, at a sorority function called "Spring Sing".

Working

Marilyn was a teacher for 2 years out of college until she had her son Eric and her daughter Melanie. She was then a stay at home mother for about 8 years. She then worked at General Nutrition as the head of human resources until she retired.

Growing up

"I guess normal. We always played a lot of games outside. For the most part, we got along and it was good. I'm not gonna say it was the ideal childhood because it wasn't. I had a wonderful mother and a crabby father, we were well taken care of. We always had Christmas gifts, food on the table, and went on vacation."

"Poochie"

Marilyn's "grandma name" is Poochie! Her iconic name has carried on outside of being a grandma and some of her friends call her Poochie too!

Traveling

When I asked Marilyn what was on her bucket list, she hoped to travel to more places like Iceland and France. Marilyn's most fond memories are anytime she is traveling.

Heirloom

This table has always been displayed in Marilyn's homes no matter where she has lived. It was her mothers, Ruth, and holds it close to her heart.

Aging

What is the best part of aging?

"The best part is you don't have as many responsibilities as you used to. I save my money and don't have to go to work. My children are raised, and I don't have to raise them or my grandkids."

Grandparents

Marilyn loved visiting he grandparents when she was younger. "They grew up and Poland so it was a total culture shock when they moved to the US. They always had interesting stories and a dinner table food of food ready when we would come over."
