    • Reading flex groups: 1 hour

    • Read aloud 10-15 minutes
    • Whole group instruction (shared reading, reading workshop, language experience, Mini-lessons): 1 hour 
    • Writing and grammar (writing workshop, mini-lessons): 30 minutes

    1. Week 1: teach how to choose books, establish routines, think-alouds to learn how to reflect, kids vote on how to organize classroom library 
    2. Week 2: buddy reading, reading with a partner at the same level, introduce a management board for the students schedule of rotations 
    3. Week 3: incorporating technology, also practicing responses to what they read, teacher is observing during this time
    4. Week 4: continue to layer on literacy stations using materials we have already taught with, begin small group guided reading
