In the early 1800s, cotton products were British exports at 42%, a vast increase despite when it was 16% in the late 17000s. British imported cotton from India as it participated in international trade.

Over time, cotton cultivation increased and became a significant resource in Britain as it expanded the fashion culture and possible international trade, leading to the British's economic growth.

As a result, the British had to import cotton. Since India was the largest country producing cotton, considered 23% of total global production, the British forced India to send all the cotton produced to Britain. India was the greatest exporter of raw cotton for the British.

Furthermore, during the 1900s, the British experienced World War 1 and World War 2, disrupting global supply chains and international trade. Cotton became more significant as it was needed for military purposes like making uniforms, belts, equipment, and compressed gun cotton and to develop the textile industry, which involved sections like fabrics and clothing.

During the British colonization of India, the British imported spices from various regions for international trade, contributing to the British's economic development.

Furthermore, spices were traded very expensively during the 17th to 19th centuries. Especially spices such as pepper, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger were valuable as they were used in cooking, medication, etc. The average price level is hard to define based on the research provided. However, spices were highly valued commodities. For example, pepper, which is now a commonly used spice, was once really valuable more than gold.

Additionally, the British experienced World Wars 1 and 2, disrupting supply chains and international trade. Resources like spices became more important to improve and stabilize the food supply for soldiers' diets and international trade.

So, Jinnah disliked how Gandhi mixed spirituality with politics since Jinnah couldn't. Then. at a Congress party meeting in December 1920, Jinnah was booed off stage when he insisted on calling Gandhi "Mr. Gandhi" instead of "Mahatma." They didn't have a good relationship.

By the 1940s, their relationship was so bad that there wouldn't be a single time of them fighting if they were in one room. During this time, Jinnah became the main leader of the Muslim League, which was pushing for a separate country for Muslims in India. Earlier in his job, Jinnah had opposed the idea of separation noticing it only as a negotiation tactic.

During World War II, Gandhi and Nehru led the 'Quit India Movement,' in which they ended up in prison. This helped Jinnah to position himself as a key ally to the British, and gain support as the best defender of the Muslim's interest against Hindu dominance. By 1945-46, the Muslim League had won in general elections and was seen as a major political force in India, alongside Congress and the British.

As civil unrest grew, the British felt highly unable to control the worsening political situation that was happening. British Prime Minister Clement Attlee announced that the British rule in India would end by June 1948 but the British moved the date until a year.
