     Even if your parents were top graduates or your siblings graduated just a few years ago; for everyone's safety, what you've learnt should stay within our walls until you leave us. No showing off when at the local cafe, nor trying to impress a new suitor

They were from their respective royal families, with long lineages and blue blood, yet even they had their issues. Since the start of the king's family's reign, which was am exemplary reign indeed, there had been rebels.

They started out as a single group, revolting against the switch in royal lines, and trying to get things back to their old ways, yet over time a divide happened. They split into Northern and Southern factions, and motivations changed.

The Northern Rebels would always break into the castle, reeking havoc and searching through every room, but never causing any fatal injuries. The Southern Rebels on the other hand, were explosive. When they stepped onto royal grounds the whole world shook. They'd kill as many people as they could until they ran out of resources and were forced to retreat.

Every generation 35 contestants were brought to the castle to 'fight' for the newest prince's hand in marriage. A commoner to go with his nobility. But, for the final selection in our history, every girl that was brought in was a rebel. The royals thought that they could use the contestants as sort of hostages to keep out the violence, yet they couldn't have been more wrong.

Rebel attacks were not as frequent, sure, but to go along with the outside battles, they suddenly had to deal with the constant threat of being backstabbed too. If the Southern Rebels attacked, so would their spies, killing every guard they could manage just to help out their comrades.

Some of the girls were less up-front about their backgrounds, keeping who's side they were on under wraps as to get closer to the royal family, and they never killed anyone (*cough cough* my group of Southern Rebels who just wanted to end the Selection with a bang).

Once they had reached the Elite stages (top 5) everyone's secrets came spilling out and there was a double attack, both rebel factions working together for one last time.

They blew the palace sky high that day, and almost took everyone with them.

Unknown members of the battle saved the prince from near death, no doubt keeping their identities secret for their own safety, and ensured the safety of our nation.

There were many other attacks during the new king's reign, trying to wipe his line out, and getting payback for his lies. It was amidst the chaos that The Council rose to power.

Who they were before all of this is unknown, but they brought us back to peace, and hopefully we can stay that way.

In each big city you'll still find a 'magic district' of some kind, one that will house shops for spell ingredients, spell focuses, magic pets, and housing for the more mythical creatures among the species

"Here, try this." Chester says as he offers a cooled-and burnt-fried green tomato to Grace, who hesitantly takes a bite. She has a tell when she doesn't like something; her nose will scrunch up ever so slightly. It's not noticeable to most, but Chester is not most, he is her beau. "What do you think?"

"It's alright." She nods, swallowing the sorry excuse for food.

"Now the truth." He smirks; she sighs.

"Well," she chuckles, "they're terrible."

"Oh well, then." He shrugs, taking the tray of very darkened vegetables and properly disposing of them in the waste basket. "Don't be shy, tell me how you feel."

"I will." She smiles and nods, happy to have these moments of domesticity after a grueling day. She turns back to her mixing bowl of chocolate frosting, working on the couple's dessert while their dinner cooks on the stove.

A few moments later, Chester puts an arm around her waist, she leans into him and hums. Then suddenly feels the freezing cold of a glass of water on her face. She gasps and backs away from the guilty party.

"Now what was that for?!" She wipes her face and turns towards the man in question. She is not happy; he can tell by the way her eyebrows furrow in discontent.

"Oh nothing, I just figured you might need a little cooling off." He winks at her, trying his best to be suave as to keep bed privileges tonight.

"You must be right." Grace returns to her mixing bowl, when an idea conjures in her blonde little head. Chester has also returned to his workstation, assuming he's won. Yet as soon as he turns his back, the same chilling rush is felt splashing at his back, soaking into his shirt.

All he can do is smile... and grab a handful of blackberries, but that's just a technicality.

"Chester!" Grace shouts as she gets a berry to the eye. Chester freezes, as she only uses his full first name when in public, or when he is in trouble.

"Are you all right, my love?" She huffs.

"I'm fine." She wipes her face of berry guts.

"You sure?" He wants to make sure he didn't their food fight a step too far.

"May I just have a hug?"

"I feel this is a trap, but I will allow it as I have just made you require an eyepatch for the rest of your life."

They both chuckle at his remark as Grace uses their small stepstool to be able to put her chin on his shoulder. Said stool is reserved for reaching Chester and cabinets, strictly, of course. He trails his arms from her back to her waist, just holding her. Only a mere moment of this has passed before- "What is thaatt?! What did you-?!" He breaks their embrace and reaches for the top of his head, only to be met with a glop of chocolate frosting. "Oh, you are so dead for that future Mrs. Dayton!" He declares as Grace giggles and runs to the other side of their kitchen island, putting some distance between her and her opponent.

"You're not going to distract me with that! Plus, we'll hyphenate." She states as she goes for the bag of flour on the counter in front of her.

"Yeah! It'll be Dayton-Beaumont!" Chester responds as he grabs the first thing and launches it at his lover. Both of them stopping in her tracks as red trails down her cheekbone.

"I thought we only bought green tomatoes." She ponders.

"I wanted to experiment." He shrugs as he goes for another tomato but gets a handful of frosting to the neck. "Noo! You've killed me~!" He screams in fake agony as he falls to the floor dramatically. Both are laughing at his antics as Grace makes her way over, now holding the bag of flour in her arms to offer for her beau's new tomato batter.

"Anyways," She states to continue their conversation, "it will be Beaumont-Dayton. Sounds much better to me-eee!" poof! Now both of them are on the floor, Grace having slipped on one of their previous food weapons, flour covers themselves and their entire kitchen.

"Christmas in July!" cough. He jokes as the flour enters his lungs.

Cough. "But it's not Christmas! It's not even July!" She replies as they both lay on their kitchen floor, covered in food and laughing themselves to death.

"What in the name of Christmas Eve are you two doing?!" The two raise their heads to see Ellis in front of them, hands on his hips and a poorly concealed smirk on his face.

"How did you get in here?" Chester asks, happy to see his friend but wondering how he got into his house. Not an easy task, but not hard for Ellis.

"I have been ringing your bell for ages but finally looked around and found your spare key." Grace glares at the man next to her, she'd told him to put the key in her snapping flower's pot so no one would want to reach for it, but no. "But all of that aside, mate, what have you done to your kitchen!" Grace laughs and looks up at him

"He's trying to teach me how to cook! Apparently." Chester laughs back and points at the wastebasket.

"Look at my fried green tomatoes!" Ellis just smiles and shakes his head.

"What am I ever going to do with you too, huh? World's most dangerous pairing, I say." He chuckles at his own remark.

"Well, first off you could-" Grace cuts off her beau's start of a remark to get out of their house. She has something much more fun in mind.

"Let me handle this, love." She smirks as she gets off of the floor, Chester supports her so she doesn't fall back on her arse.

"Alright." He simply lets her do whatever she's cooked up in that mischievous brain of hers.

"Afternoon, Beaumont." He smiles and nods.

"Evening, Howard. She repeats the gesture, not turning away as she reaches into a mixing bowl on the counter. Her hand emerges with a fistful of chocolate frosting. Upon reaching her designated target, she stops and smears said frosting across his face before promptly wiping both sides of her hand on his shirt.

Chester stands, trying to breathe from shock and laughter. Ellis blinks, hardly able to believe Grace would do such a thing. That's a lie, he knows she would do such a thing, not surprised in the slightest at the events that have just transpired.

"Beaumont, I have to say, I do believe that Chester has been a bad influence on you." He says as he simply stands in the middle of the Dayton and Beaumont kitchen, covered in chocolate.

"I agree!" Chester replies through wheezes.
