Creating shopping lists: I was surprised to see it contributed to lessening food waste since I've always viewed it as a reminder of what to get, rather than what not to. My family is against food waste because it equates to money waste, so we're often in charge of creating our own shopping lists for our grocery store runs.

Home composting: It's easy and beneficial to both the environment and our own crops. Usually any food scraps or fruit peels go into our composting bin in our backyard for our city's communal garden.

Treating Best-Before dates skeptically stood out to me since I had a research project on how long produce and food items can stay past their due date. I always keep my produce a week after the date before I throw it out.

I have a compost box at home that we throw our food scraps away. It has made it more convenient to throw away food waste andwe have food soil for our plants

Something that stood out to me from the text is when it says to not waste your food by being careful with how much food you buy, cook, and eat. I have trouble doing this, as I tend to sometimes be wasteful with food. It also says that wasting food hurts more than just your bank account; it also hurts other people and the planet. Another thing that stood out to me from the text is when it says that a 50 percent reduction of mandatory food waste should be imposed on all companies. I think that this would help the environment a ton, and help eliminate food waste.
