1.) Give students a checklist of thinks to look for during their editing stage.


2.) If a child is stuck on how to spell a word, write it for them on a sticky note.


3.) Keep anecdotal and mental notes on how the student is doing during their writing.


4.) It's about the process of writing, not exactly about the finished product. We need to encourage students to free-write.


5.) If students struggle with the focus of their writing we can remind them to ask themselves this question, " What 's the thing I really want to say about my subject to my readers?".
